The cinematic Latinx experience includes many dual elements. You can have a light romantic comedy just as you can come across an unjustified critique of injustice. Latinx Heritage Month serves as a reminder that such stories from Latinx commercials are so valuable and weighty that they are often overlooked. But with the cultural shift we’ve seen in recent years, more and more of our voices and faces are being heard and seen in the media. This change is perhaps what many of our young people need. Now there is the opportunity to broadcast the reality of this many countries, experiences and realities through an authentic lens.

Walter is a force of nature who has taught an entire generation that they need to live their lives authentically and lovingly. This project is not only a celebration of his life but also a perfect demonstration of his worldwide influence and cultural bridge that he was able to create with people. —Juan

I had so much fun watching this movie last November, and I’m still captivated by how good it is. This is a beautiful story and a powerful depiction of the immigrant experience. Its approach to discussing the struggles and fears experienced by men in the LGBTQ+ community in Mexico, and how they hide who they are in order to try to overcome and “get over” in Mexican society, was handled very well. Its message of what hope, pain, love and ambition can do is very special. It’s exciting to see a new LGBTQ+ movie that deals with the perspective of Mexican culture. —Juan

While not intended to carry a strong political message, due to its 2017 release, the film finally gave hope to many members of the Latinx community.
